چکیده

This study proposes the use of genetic analysis as a complementary method for species identification in genus Pinus, particularly cases where anatomical is challenging. Pinus were grouped based on similarities, and efficacy using ycf1b, which most variable identification, rbcL, suggested DNA barcode land plants, was evaluated within each group. Sequences obtained from National Center Biotechnology Information database used to perform phylogenetic analysis. Among Group 1 (P. echinata, P. elliottii, ponderosa, radiata, rigida, taeda, virginiana), rbcL only effective identifying radiata while ycf1b classified five species. An additional barcode, trnH-psbA, needed identify taeda. In 2 densiflora, sylvestris, thunbergii), identified both with exception possible hybrids densiflora sylvestris. 3 koraiensis strobus), two ycf1b. Combining can accurately Pinus.

Species identification of medicinal pteridophytes by a DNA barcode marker, the chloroplast psbA-trnH intergenic region.

Medicinal pteridophytes are an important group used in traditional Chinese medicine; however, there is no simple and universal way to differentiate various species of this group by morphological traits. A novel technology termed "DNA barcoding" could discriminate species by a standard DNA sequence with universal primers and sufficient variation. To determine whether DNA barcoding would be effec...

Taxonomic status and genetic variation of the genus Castanea (Fagaceae) in Iran based on psbA and trnH-psbA

Species in the genus Castanea Mill. are one of the worthwhile species in the Hyrcanian forest of west Guilan (N Iran) with low region such as Siahmazgi, Ghalerodkhan and Visrod. that do not have good condition by reason of human interfering and disease. They have varying economic importance as nut tree crops, therefore, DNA barcoding technique can be a straightforward method for taxonomic statu...

Assessment of relationships between Iranian Fritillaria (Liliaceae) Species Using Chloroplast trnh-psba Sequences and Morphological Characters

The genus Fritillaria comprises of 165 taxa of medicinal, ornamental and horticultural importance. Evolutionary relationships in this genus is an interesting research area, attracting many researchers. In this study, phylogenetic relationships among 18 native to endemic species in Iran belonging to four subgenera Petilium, Theresia, Rhinopetalum and Fritillaria, are assessed using chloroplast t...

Application of DNA Barcodes in Asian Tropical Trees – A Case Study from Xishuangbanna Nature Reserve, Southwest China

BACKGROUND Within a regional floristic context, DNA barcoding is more useful to manage plant diversity inventories on a large scale and develop valuable conservation strategies. However, there are no DNA barcode studies from tropical areas of China, which represents one of the biodiversity hotspots around the world. METHODOLOGY AND PRINCIPAL FINDINGS A DNA barcoding database of an Asian tropi...

Fractionation and identification of the allergic proteins in Aspergillus species

Background and Purpose: Allergy is an undesired immune response to non-pathogenic agents. However, some opportunistic microorganisms such as fungi can also cause allergy. Among those fungi, hyphae form of Aspergillus strains including A. fumigatus, A. flavus, and A. niger could be mentioned. In this study, we aimed to separate allergic proteins from Aspergillus strains and determine their ident...
